I have always had dogs around me, since I was a kid. Some of our dogs were well behaved, others not so much. My family had different theories with different dogs about the reason they were not reaching our standards. Through those years we had issues with taking food from the counter, chewing shoes, jumping on us (or even worse- on people who came to our house).
Since we have Goldendoodles, part of the problems are solved since they are learning things quickly. We have a big backyard where they can use up there energie and it helps for sure. Before that we took them to the dog park regularly for the same purpose. It is also true that I wanted to learn from my (and my family's) previous mistakes and train my puppies the way I wanted them to be.
I knew already that my relationship with them is extremely important and largely influenced by the way I choose to train them.
The challenge was to find the right method. I have tried many different things, but the easiest and quickest was the Clicker. I've heard about it before, but I didn't think that any tool wood help so much. It wasn't just a lots of fun, but also gave me the instant success! Within minutes they learned many different things. That was amazing!
In my next article I will tell you how to use it step by step.
I hope that you would give it a try. To make it easier for you I will give you your first set of 2 training clickers and a training pouch the day you come and pick up your puppy. (it's a big help to have that when you don't have pockets, since you need to keep the treats somewhere).
